Thapar University — Student Residence
The first phase of student accommodation at Thapar University houses 1,200 students across four L-shaped towers, linked by an elevated garden podium that shades the social spaces beneath from the Punjab sun. Designed by McCullough Mulvin Architects with Designplus Associates, the scheme draws on the jali screen tradition, translating the red ochre soil of Punjab into a filigree of red GRC screens wrapping every balcony. The project won Best International Building at the 2018 RIAI Awards and was a finalist at the World Architecture Festival the same year.
