Schott Kaisha — now Schott Poonawalla — manufactures primary pharmaceutical packaging from Type I borosilicate glass: ampoules, tubular vials, cartridges and sterile prefillable syringes. The company began in 1990 as Kaisha Manufacturers, entered a technology partnership with SCHOTT of Mainz, Germany in 2008, and was renamed following the Serum Institute of India's acquisition of a 50% stake in 2021. The Valsad facility at Umarsadi is one of three GMP-compliant production sites the company operates.
